Mawnan chair crafted from oak by New Maker Will Nock, whose furniture is inspired by his home on the Cornish coastline. He uses traditional hand tools to slowly shape locally sourced wood into functional forms, each a reflection of the rugged landscape he draws from. A contoured seat joins the supportive low backrest, set at a slight angle for comfort. Hand-carved spindle legs are attached with wedged mortice and tenons. It is treated with a natural oil and wax blend which leaves a tactile finish. Each varies slightly in shape and colour. This item is part of our New Makers programme. In its sixth year, five makers demonstrating excellence in skill, originality and craftsmanship have been chosen by a panel. We offer business and marketing advice, as well as a platform to sell their pieces until the end of this year, with full profits being returned to them.
